Wow, we can't believe we're already in week 12 of Genius Hour! We've been busy cutting and uploading our videos to the website to add the finishing touches to our finished product. We're also creating presentation slides to finish for our presentation day. This project has been so much fun and has pushed us out of our comfort zone. I'd say we've been successful and have learned things about people that we wouldn't normally encounter in our day-to-day lives.

During today's Genius Hour session, which is the 11th week of our project, We encountered some difficulties while uploading our videos to our website. We struggled to figure out how we could transfer the videos from our drive to the website. We sought help from Mr. Barker, who assisted us by showing us three different ways of uploading our videos. He explained that we could either upload the videos from Cap Cut to our Google Drive or upload them to YouTube and set them to private, and then add them to the website. Ultimately, we decided to go with the Cap Cut to Google Drive option. Mr. Barker also taught us how to obtain an embedded code from the link and paste it onto the Interviews page. With his guidance, we were able to successfully upload our videos to our website.
We're getting closer to the due date and today is all about uploading our pictures and videos to our website. However, we've encountered a small issue with uploading the videos since the files are too large. To resolve this, we're using the Capcut app to trim the videos down a bit. We're also working on preparing our presentation slides for the project and dividing the work amongst ourselves to ensure that everything gets done in time. We're trying to multitask as much as possible to keep our productivity levels high and ensure that we're not stressing out over incomplete tasks. As for next week, we're planning to conduct a few more interviews to add to the page and include more participant pictures on the home page.
During weeks 7-9, we have made significant progress in our interviewing process. We have received numerous responses from different individuals, and we were able to keep up the conversations during the interviews. This has helped us to avoid short and one-word answers. However, we have also realized time is getting shorter until we hit week 12 and we are trying to pick up the pace of being able to finalize everything. Fortunately, being able to get our videos checked over by Mr. Barker has helped us be able to know that we are on the right track to completing our project successfully. Despite missing a few blog deadlines, we are working hard to put everything into words and make significant progress. Overall, we believe we are on the right track to achieving our goals.
Today was a productive day as we completed filming and reviewed our footage. We had a discussion with Mr. Barker about how our interviews were looking, and he provided us with valuable feedback on how to make them more engaging and to continue a conversation rolling rather than just asking boring questions that have quick and easy answers. We spent a considerable amount of time reviewing the footage and brainstorming on how we could improve after our conversation with Barker. As a result, we decided to come up with a fresh set of questions for our interviews and plan to film again next week. Overall, it was a learning experience and we look forward to implementing the changes in our videos.
It's now the fifth week of our genius hour, and we're working hard to stay on track with everything and ensure that our videos meet our standards. We're also actively searching for new people to interview and coming up with interesting questions. Unfortunately, some of the interviews didn't go well because some people only gave one-word answers, so we had to delete those interviews. Overall, it wasn't very entertaining.
We are already into the fourth week of our project and the time is flying by! We have been coming along great, we have conducted a couple of test trials on the research questions we prepared in week 3. However, we didn't feel like the questions we came up with were the best fit for our interview outcome. Therefore, we asked Mr Barker for assistance and feedback. He provided us with information on how we should frame our questions, and the importance of keeping them open-ended and not closed off avoiding one-sided answers. This suggestion has helped us get on a better track and we will be incorporating them into our project moving forward.
It's already week 3 of our Genius Hour Project and we have finished putting together our website so our progress can now be shown on the pages. We have also received the microphones and are now available to use when we are recording. Olivia and I have decided to wait until Week 4 to begin the actual recording and interviewing process. For now we are still researching and putting together an outline of the questions and how we want the recording process to go. Also we are continuing to edit our website and continuing to add on things to the pages.
During this day, I was honestly pretty unproductive. Our mini microphones for our interviews came in on Saturday, and we're planning on using them during week 5. Makenzie wasn't here because of her concussion, and I didn't have editing access to the website yet, so there's not much I could have done. -Olivia (1 week later)
Welcome to Genius Hour Week 1! Olivia and I will plan our 12-week process this week. We have already made purchases that will contribute to making our project successful over these 12 weeks. From our project, we hope to meet new people, learn new things, and possibly have different aspects of things we do now. We have already planned the weeks we want to record and have made purchases of microphones for the audio of our videos.
